From 2019 to 2023, the number of card transactions on Black Friday grew by 65%, reaching over 3.3 million, while BLIK transactions almost tripled, reaching 1.25 million in 2023. The implementation of a dynamic CVC/CVV code on the digital card increases the level of protection and security for online card payments. PKO Bank Polski is one of the few banks worldwide to offer such a dynamic security code in its app. In the future, the bank will allow customers to choose between using only digital cards or both digital and physical versions.   • PKO Bank Polski customers can now secure their login to the iPKO online service using security keys.
  • A PKO Bank Polski customer can replace the current method of additional login confirmation – IKO app confirmation, SMS code, or code from a code card – with a security key.
  • With this type of security, no one who does not have the customer’s key will be able to log into the iPKO service, even if they know the user’s login and password.

A security key or hardware key is a small device with a USB port, resembling a pendrive. It is used to securely confirm identity online whenever the service requires two-factor authentication. In practice, this means that with the use of such a key, no unauthorized person, such as a cybercriminal, who does not have the customer’s key will be able to log into the iPKO service, even if they know the user's login and password. Thanks to it, external providers can make their services available through the bank's digital channels, and customers can use the IKO and iPKO channels to access offerings beyond the banking world. They can already schedule e-medical visits, purchase screen protection for their smartphones, codes for e-books and audiobooks, cinema tickets, or access to VOD services. The team won first place and the main prize for developing a web scraping tool. The solution enables the collection and analysis of data on savings products offered by Polish banks, along with a notification mechanism for detected anomalies. It can serve as an indicator of potential liquidity problems in selected financial institutions. Bank employees have already created 218 tools for handling internal processes using low code/no code technology. As a result, more and more repetitive and simple back-office processes are being automated, replacing cumbersome Excel sheets, external applications, or sending documents via email. These digital tools are used in operations for tasks such as handling invoices, archiving documents, monitoring and administering products, managing credit settlements, and supporting advisors. This year, they have already completed 85,000 tasks. Low code/no code is a continuation of the bank's strategic direction towards innovation, which includes digital transformation in operations.
